Capsule Geology

The Chent occurrences is located at an elevation of approximately 1450 metres on the southwest flank of Lhole Tse (Chuchi) Mountain.

Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided rocks of the Lower Jurassic Chuchi Lake Formation (Takla Group), which has been intruded by syenitic to monzonitic, quartz monzonitic to monzogranitic and gabbroic to dioritic intrusive phases of the Lower Jurassic Hogem Plutonic Suite.

Locally, a stockwork vein system occurs within a monzonite intrusion. The mineralized structure comprises a silicified and potassic-altered and brecciated stockwork of magnetite, hematite and quartz veins with subordinate malachite staining, trace galena, sphalerite, and fluorite. Some magnetite veins are up to 10 centimetres wide are also reported. The copper mineralization appears to be related to the hematitic veins, which on fresh surfaces occurs as specular hematite. The extent of the system is obscured by overburden but may be up to 400 by 200 metres in area.

In 1991, a sample (538035) of quartz-hematite stockwork with trace malachite assayed 0.61 per cent copper and 5.2 grams per tonne silver, and a nearby sample (538037) of leucocratic monzonite with a 5-centimetre wide pyrite vein assayed 0.190 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 21994).

Work History

In 1971, Plateau Metals Ltd. completed a reconnaissance soil sampling program and a ground magnetic survey on the area immediately southwest as the Pot and Top claims.

In 1991, Armeno Resources Inc. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock, silt, and soil) sampling and a 24.2 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Chent 1-6 claims.

Also in 1990 and 1991, BP Resources Canada Ltd. completed programs of rock sampling, a 39.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and a 207.0 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area immediately south west as the Anom 1-5 claims.

In 2007, Solomon Resources Ltd. completed a program of geochemical (soil and silt) sampling and a 1458.4 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Col-Magnet property.

In 2013 and 2014, Pacific Empire Minerals Corp., in conjunction with Nation River Resources Ltd. and Indata Resources Ltd., completed programs of rock and soil sampling on the area as part of the Col-Later-Klawback property.
